So look, even if you could buy and sell them, since they don't know you from the one place they daily confront people who look like you with their wine, rice, and cilantro at the register, you are dismissed if you're lucky. If you're noticed it is with the disappointment that their come up has not been far enough up to escape the likes of your kind.

Voice
I have two things for sure in this world--faith and voice and I feel responsible for using them
My Take
Sexuality presents as attractiveness like “You’re cute, I’m attracted to your physical-ness.” And ultimately if biology and evolution is to be trusted, that translates into “I’d be interested in having sex with you.” It’s one way to fertilize the earth I suppose.
[vintage] How To Tell If You’re a Trophy Friend (and How to Remedy the Ailment)
Once upon time when i was on one.
How To Tell If You’re a Trophy Friend
#1: You are always referred to by your attributes rather than your birth name.
Ex. This is my white friend, my friend who wins pie-eating contests, my friend with the genius IQ, my friend with a big toe.
#2: You are introduced by title rather than by your first name.
Ex. This is Dancer Friend, Doctor Friend, Professor Friend, Astronaut Friend, Super Friend.
#3: These introductions occur in situations in which the attributes and titles are not relevant.
Ex. grocery shopping, the barbeque, church, at the gym, during a bikini wax
How to Avoid Becoming a Trophy Friend

Women I know wear Special so heavy their backs break under it; discard it in you and there you are feeling like you’re some kind of Robinhood to the rescue knowing full well you are water seeking its own level.
Tune In!
Remember those posts: I am a miracle (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). and Didn't Yesterday say you couldn't yet you did? Mrs. Burke read them and thought they were worth sharing. So I'll be sharing them. On November 16th at 6 on the radio (in my Donna Summer voice). Tune in!

This is idiopathic—without known cause).
Comply or Die
He explains that he understands compliance intimately by sharing this story: as younger men he and friends were stopped and robbed by police. Their choice, he suggests, to face the wall, hands up as told and accept the stick up, saved their lives.
Body Talk
The training, racing, and creative process...is a triumph over the physical and psychic conditions just outside the parameters of control which would censor and stilt performance.
One Solitary Life
Bitter grapes isn’t my dessert of choice. But, I am not here for the hard luck, dramatic tragedies that too often pass by virtue of how hard the luck, for “good writing.”
“You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, or who had ever been alive.”
James Baldwin

A friend of mine, a fellow writer but not a writer-friend, like she’s a friend who happens to be a writer too (writers will understand the distinction I think)…umm, a long definition to get to the point: we were talking.
Which when we do turns into one of those “girlchild let’s plan a life where this is all we do all day” type of talks.
On dating: I tell myself to date but then I end up occupying my time with other stuff and catch myself a month later reading my intention journal like, oh yeah…
