This year marks seven years since I was diagnosed with idiopathic cardiomyopathy which eventually showed itself not to be idiopathic at all. The cause was an inflammatory disease called sarcoidosis.
In this seventh year, I am getting back to what brought me here: running. More specifically marathon running. I was training for my seventh marathon at the time and never got to complete it.
I have dreamed of it ever since, and even as it seemed elusive, I believed I would realize my dream someday. Well, someday is here.
This year I have my chance as a member of Team Rally For Sarc to complete what I was unable to finish: my seventh marathon. We’re trying to raise funds for research that will help people like me have more somedays to dream and realize more dreams.
There are a couple of ways to support.
1. You can purchase the official Dream Team tee shirt (but hurry, orders must be placed by October 1st)!
2. You can donate at my Dream Team page.
Wednesday the 13th was my a.d. birthday (as in, after diagnosis–because a new me was born that day) after all. Consider your donation a belated birthday gift and an investment in the many more birthdays I intend to have.
